Which weeds in my garden are edible?
What the heck can I do with all that zucchini?
How do I make my own ________?
These are the questions we take on every day in our kitchen!
With trained chefs constantly finding their way onto the farm, we have developed a certain style of cuisine. Using the skills we learn in traditional and modern kitchens, we use our hour-old ingredients to make some extraordinary dishes. We craft these dishes in order to use up the bounty that certain crops and prolifics provide. Many of these can be recreated at home with ingredients you find at your local farmers market or backyard.
Eliminating our need for the grocery store is the biggest challenge we've taken on. Most of our staples are bought in bulk. We bake our own bread and make our own granola. We rarely purchase any processed foods. We prefer to process them ourselves. Our pantry is loaded with our own tomato sauces, canned tomatoes, pizza sauces, canned fruit, pickled vegetables, hot sauces, ketchups, BBQ sauces, chutneys, and salsas. If you can't find a recipe for it on our recipe blog, just e-mail us and we'll try to dig it up.
Cured meats and cheeses are our new adventure. Follow our recipe blog to see how the prosciutto is doing - Golden Ears Community Recipe Blog

In 2009, the BC Food Systems Network (BCFSN) gave birth to the Shuswap Regional Food Network (SRFN). The goal of our regional network is to enable communication through our list-serve as well as through community pot lucks and events. If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, if only to share your thoughts, click here to sign up. "Let's Talk Local Food and Local Solutions" was the theme of last year's gathering.
